Yes, that time has come... again!
It's BACK TO SCHOOL TIME!
No more "what day is it today?", no more "I can go to the bathroom whenever I want to"
no
more
time
to
breathe.
Is it that bad? Well, yes.
Sometimes the toughest part is the beginning because going back to the school year routine after two months of normal life routine might not be that easy.
But... there are some things which could ease our back to school time, or at least make it more bearable. And that means... planning.
If we can manage to plan the back to school activities then it means we have a path to follow which could make things easier during those hectic days when everything starts again... and all together.
So here are some ideas for a creative back to school for a lower secondary school ( or middle school). These activities could easily be adapted for a primary school.
The idea is this: WHAT COMES TO YOUR MIND TODAY? WHAT COMES TO YOUR MIND THIS WEEK? WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS NEW SCHOOL YEAR?
Well.. don't keep it ALL IN YOUR HEAD!
Last year I asked my students to draw a CREATIVE MINDMAP these are the results:
They used online dictionaries, dictionaries and they got really creative and did a good job. This gave me the chance to see how they felt about their school year and to talk to them and with them about it. It always helps to express fears, anxiety but also excitement and enthusiasm. It could also be interesting at the end of the year to go back to these drawings and see if the school year was as expected or not.
This is a very simple activity which turned out to be interesting and motivating for my students last year.
Thank you,
Miss Alex
